I would just like to observe that these sorts of statements detract from your argument rather than add to it.

Such statements tend to turn up quite a lot, from the same few people, when they haven't actually got an argument!

I don't really have "an argument" as there really is no point in trying to discuss with someone so pompous and self obsessed...............

Either I'm going nuts or there's a problem with this thread. Is anyone else seeing the same message about 6 times?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Yes, there appears to be a problem with David-G's computer/Internet system. It keeps sending repeats of the same message. So far, at least three threads are thus affected.

Stop talking to yourself then. Simple.

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

We know you don''t have an argument. But then why get involved at all? Why not just leave the thread to people who can/want to make rational and constructive contributions? That's one of the definitions of trolling, isn't it? Joining threads just to wind people up, with no intention to actually engage with the subject. And then you have the nerve to accuse Mr P - who posts nothing like as much as you do and who fits none of the established definitions of a troll, whether you agree with his views or not - of trolling.

And just to ram the point home, what's "pompous and self-obsessed" about the post that you first attacked? Here it is:

"I'm afraid I'm not with you there, Budapest, though I have been on many of your recent posts.

It's a fact that the authorities in the USA can now do things they couldn't before some of the statutes you mention were passed - legally, that is. But the USA is most definitely not a police state. Go and talk to some of those who lived in East Germany or some of the Russian satellite states before the wall came down. They'll tell you what a real police state was like."
