....and two MSPs resigned from the SNP yesterday over the decision to reverse its position on NATO at their party conference at the weekend.

In the Seventies I was a member of the party and resigned (or rather didn't renew my membership!) over its then anti-Common Market stance, which I found totally incomprehensible. Yes, in those days we had Little Scotlanders as well and, sadly, some still exist. Now, of course, the SNP is staunchly pro-EU, bless 'em. At least I can claim some consistency of view here ...

Polls show that the huge majority of Scots wish to stay in Nato so Salmond & Co are simply facing reality, and the example and policy of similar-sized countries (in terms of population) such as Norway and Denmark

Though I support greater powers for the Scottish Parliament, I am wholly against the break-up of the UK which would be bad for England as well as Scotland. Better Together indeed,

I suppose an independent Scotland would be at risk from hostile powers and dark forces desperate to get control of all those golf courses ....

It certainly would as the hostile powers, especially those dark forces emanating from south of the border, don't really have any serious golf courses (with proper sand dunes) of their own ... ?

Trump's golf course seems to be one of many assaults on the environment of Scotland that have been approved by the Scottish Parliament (i.e. the SNP). These include the Beauly Denny transmission line (which goes through the Cairngorms National Park) and the devastation of the Southern Uplands with windmills. Of these, Trump's impact seems quite small beer to me. He's not spoiling the whole of the SSSI, merely a part of it near Menie. Looking at Google Earth for that area, it's not exactly in pristine condition at the moment: just to the ESE of Menie House is one of those farmyards that are strewn with scrap, poor-quality sheds and what appears to be discarded machinery. The dunes in that area are criss-crossed with dirt-tracks. Trump was granted planning permission with certain stipulations as to what he could do: has he conformed to those conditions?

It depends on what you consider "pristine condition". A SSSI should not be expected to conform in appearance to a Repton-landscaped country park.

Not in the same league ... at least when it comes to proper, natural sand-dunes ... yet again it was only we Scots who came up with any idea how to use this great natural resource for the benefit of man and wimminkind.
