It's interesting that when one walks in the "wild countryside" (particularly in Scotland) one is constantly tripping over the remains of all the places that people used to live, and not that long ago. The "wild countryside" is largely man made , we cut down the forests to build a navy and fuel the industrial revolution.

Much of the 'wild' landscaspe that one sees has been created by agriculture or careful management for 'sporting' interests.

I used to walk in the wilds of the Highlands of Scotland a lot and cannot remember ever once tripping over the remains of all the places people used to live not than long ago. All I ever came across were magnificent hills and mountains and beautiful lochs which would have been largely hidden from view in the old Caledonian Forest. There are, of course, the remains of the odd croft or two long deserted and just as likely to have been voluntarily evacuated (as in St Kilda due to the harsh conditions) rather than any action from historical equivalents of Trump. Some may have even (and did) become Trumps themselves in some far-flung corner of the British Empire. That is not to in any way to defend the Highkand Clearances, in case any wholly misguided member suggests as much.
Whatever our views, however, though it would be possible to disband the Royal Navy it might be somewhat more problematic to now decide to cancel the Industrial Revolution.

For a Scot you have an interesting take on Scottish History
I had forgotten that the highlands were "voluntarily" evacuated I vaguely remember something a bit more dramatic ? but I stand corrected
though I wonder why so many Scottish people went all the way to Canada when the conditions there are equally "harsh"
I do remember reading about the history of St Kilda which wasn't "evacuated" due to harsh weather but harshness from other places including the church (not yer man in Rome though )

I think they were rather more concerned about being unable to scrape a living on St Kilda than discussing history and poltics and indeed some did indeed to go on to forge successful occupations and careers in Canada and elsewhere where opportunities abounded.
In fact, if I'm not mistaken, Donald Trump's very own mum originated from the Isle of Lewis.
I take a rather more balanced view of Scottish history, undoubted patriot though I am. Many previously deprived Scots probably behaved far worse than Trump ever has by eagerly exploiting from the old slave trade in the Americas, which is why so many black people are now blessed/stuck with some unmistakeably Scottish surnames!

"Donald Trump lawyers tried to stop BBC showing Scottish bullying film

"The BBC rejected the request and gave the documentary, directed by Anthony Baxter, its network television premiere. It was watched by an estimated 1.1 million viewers, about 40% higher than average figures for the last three months, and earned praise from reviewers, trending on Twitter."
"Sarah Malone, the executive vice-president of Trump International Golf Links, who featured in the film, said: "We totally denounce the BBC for further abandoning its own editorial integrity by blatantly refusing us a right of reply at the end of the broadcast last night.
"It just goes to show that recent criticism of the BBC's lack of sound editorial judgment to be correct. It is not a documentary – it is a piece of propaganda that is wildly inaccurate, defamatory and deliberately misleading."
"The film will be screened again on BBC2 on Tuesday night."It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
