Not sure that the discussion illuminated much. I suppose the response is: It depends what you mean by a moral purpose (and, obviously, assuming that the question implies: Does BBC broadcasting have a moral purpose ...? rather than whether the institution is a beacon of morality).It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
