I'll substitute the word 'ignorant' for 'blind', Mary ... it was a poor choice of adjective in such a discussion.
I'm not disputing any of the allegations, merely expressing astonishment that one is now only being made public 30 years later on a TV show.
I also described the alleged groper in the case of Ms Toksvig as an 'obvious idiot', so that hardly puts me in the camp of the equally ignorant men you describe?
.. forced me to go and get him a cup of coffee ...
To be continued ... ./
during my brief employment at BBC drinking the stuff served from an urn in the then BBC monogrammed cups with saucers was enough abuse served on us techies.
er this thread feels like sliding one's thumbnail down a blackboard or cracking a tooth on a nut ....
young adolescents were badly abused by BBC performers on a sustained basis ... abuse leaves bad scars in people's minds
the BBC reflected the larger society in its wilful ignorance of sexual predation and abuse .... not something for a titter and giggle for me ....
I. for one, was not referring to the Saville allegations but those made by Kershaw and Toksvig and involving only adults, and I'm not aware the OP was referring to the former either?
In case this thread gets even more bitter and twisted I'll gladly withdraw now ...
It's a man's world but didn't any of the groped women have a sharp elbow or a stilleto heel? Thankfully, an arm round the waist when going through a narrow doorway was about the most unwelcome thing I had.
And anyway it's not a joking matter if the allegations are true.
You are correct, amsey ...it was ITV in her case, allegedly... I apologise.
I believe that almost everyone who has posted so far on this thread should realise that this is a very serious matter which is at present under legal investigation'
Yet another thread that has absolutely nothing at all to do with Radio 3 or the stated objectives of this forum.
No wonder that some of our very valued contributors of the past two years have withdrawn from membership.
We are supposed to have input regulated by appointed "hosts". What is their function, other than to appear more important than the rest of us?
I submit that this discussion should be terminated forthwith.
There are about 15 sub forums, of which one is non music related, for people with a shared interest in ( mostly Classical) music to discuss non musical issues.
I like these discussions, with people who share a broad musical interest, even when I vehemently disagree with them.
there is a hell of a lot of traffic on this sub forum also. Sort of thing the rating obsessed BBC might approve of!
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

HS
With respect HS, Radio 3 broadcasts regular and frequent bulletins of news. The subject under discussion has been included in these bulletins.
You do not know why 'some of our very valued contributors of the past two years have withdrawn from membership' except for those occasions when you have left but you always seem to come back

I agree with amateur51 about the right to discuss it but the tone of the inaugural post was utterly inappropriate, and I'm surprised the forum's moderators haven't deleted it. I'm a huge fan of satire but this was pitiful stuff. I don't think Private Eye will be knocking on his door any time soon.
