Abuse at the BBC: My Personal Testimony

This is a very difficult statement for me to post, but I think the time is right.

For too long I've lived with a shocking secret. Basically, I worked at the BBC over a troubling period of five years, and, well, with all the talk there's been you can imagine what's coming next.

You see, not once was I ever groped or molested. Cruelly spurned by the likes of Saville, Angela Rippon, Terry Wogan and Zena Skinner I became an emotional wreck, and there was no kind of counselling in those days.

I even had to pay all my taxes and once John Dunn cruelly forced me to go and get him a cup of coffee ...

    To be continued ... ./

Did you make piles of it?

(NB - there is a serious issue in all this, I'm not denying, obviously)

There appears to have been a lot of groping around going on at the BBC in 'the good old days'.

Liz Kershaw recently claimed she was a victim whilst on air and even the openly gay Sandi Toksvig has now officially announced on the Andrew Marr Show that she herself had been 'groped' by an obviously blind and nameless idiot of a male person whilst on air at the BBC about 30 years ago.

These shocking groping allegations at the BBC get more astounding by the day ...

er this thread feels like sliding one's thumbnail down a blackboard or cracking a tooth on a nut ....

young adolescents were badly abused by BBC performers on a sustained basis ... abuse leaves bad scars in people's minds

the BBC reflected the larger society in its wilful ignorance of sexual predation and abuse .... not something for a titter and giggle for me ....
According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

That's a pretty unacceptable thing to say, scotty. Try not to join the men who treat women as objects, please.

Scotty, scotty, scotty ... Sandi Toksvig was very careful not to say she was at the BBC when this occurred; and she is not gay she is a lesbian

                        Well said, Mary

Sexual abuse is not a topic which should be trivialised with cheap humour. Groping was never funny.

I'll substitute the word 'ignorant' for 'blind', Mary ... it was a poor choice of adjective in such a discussion.

I'm not disputing any of the allegations, merely expressing astonishment that one is now only being made public 30 years later on a TV show.

I also described the alleged groper in the case of Ms Toksvig as an 'obvious idiot', so that hardly puts me in the camp of the equally ignorant men you describe?

Would he have been a less obvious idiot if he'd chosen somebody else to grope then?
