I didn't know the sinfonietta had been resurrected

Crikey, I never went to university myself, amsey, but I did achieve 'O' Level Arithmetic (Scottish Certificate of Education, no less ) and I can cunningly calculate that's one letter approx every twenty minutes, seven days a week?

Then there's all these trips to Rymans for paper, not to mention countless and expensive printer cartridges?

      Outrageous!

It is indeed, My Son ..
Great maths scotty but I doubt that she's writing each one by hand with her Conway Stewart Dinky fountain pen on Basildon Bond

I have heard tell of these fancy-dan things called computers - you programme them to print off hundreds and hundreds of letters each day

Dang me if this place doesn't have these here computers set up in rooms with printers. And the devil of it is, the company that runs this enterprise, it gets paid by every letter that's sent out.

      Whatever next?!

        Simple.

But less so in practice, for there will always be that highly vocal group defending the ineptitude of such people, instead of protecting the potential victims before the damage is done.
What highly vocal group is that, EA? Ann Widdecombe and her pro-life posse?

That's eerily similar to the behaviour of the medical students I recall from my undergraduate days. And the "rugger" players, but the two groups tended to intersect.

Still, it was a University without inverted commas and most of them I suppose went on to be doctors and therefore responsible citizens so it can't have been all that similar.

Ah, I think I get the idea now, amsey ...

Looks like the long-promised paperless world is a very, very long way off in that place, doesn't it?. The poor Amazon Rain Forest, eh ... ?

They don't generally use rainforest wood for paper; conifers from Scandinavia is a better bet.

It's not necessarily "according to their records" so much as being notified by sophisticated web crawlers that go onto social network sites and flag up profiles that have recently had words such as "accident" and "car crash" added to the timeline. Before long, the "victim" can be texted with a luring no-win-no-fee compensation offer.

One's life is effectively an open book, on several levels, with these web sites. And I don't place much faith in their "privacy" settings!

A serendipitous prequel to what will be my last post on this forum. And somewhat poetic that it should be in a thread that I started.

Tuesday afternoon I was in a car accident. My car was written off. I survived. So did the others. After a space of a couple of days I dip into this thread.

Profoundly depressed with the pedantry...who whom..who the f*ck cares. Of people saying 'I knew X who had a hard time therefore you are all basta*rds'. Of witterings. Even Radio 3 sounds sane at times compared to the inane drivel posted here. So good people....listen up. Go and get a f*cking life. Let others do what they want to do. Don't preach. You're not God. Or Jesus. Buddha. Muhammed.

                      RM...over and out.

but telling people to "get a life" and then saying "don't preach" is a bit of a oxymoron innit

Yep Cheers....I don't know if you were a headmaster or some such, but you certainly treated everybody as if they were Form 3C, therefore got the fall out and reaction of pupils and staff intent on being capricious just because of your attitude....

You made the mistake of many a temporary poster (we see them come we see them go) that you take the sometimes serious, sometimes semi seriousness, sometimes larking about of Platform 3 ....as the sum total of FOR3....it is a tiny quantity of incredibly informed , and authoritive knowledge and imagination....and in many cases a broad eclectic sweep of different areas of culture, that may go over your head, if you are light in the eclectic dept, or finding poverty in humility ....

....Bless you my son. I'll do as I do and I'll love you in ways....bye

                            Hello RM!

Sorry ... to hear about your accident; that you're going

Glad ... to hear that you survived

I hope you'll reconsider & return one day.

PS: I'm very happy with the life I've got thanks, although it's very much a work in progress, nothing taken for granted, low on planning, majoring in serendipity
