I think I might be partly to blame

Last time I met with RW, I quoted Suffolkcoastal's figures for the repetition of the Slavonic Dances (I thought SC said 80 times last year??? - anyway, that's what I said). RW looked surprised but countered with: Not always the same one? I agreed that it wasn't always the same one.

But I seem to have seen them listed in the playlists even more frequently since ... Must be my imagination ... Or they're going through all of them one by one, and then starting again from the beginning.

Could forthcoming threads about trails perhaps themselves be trailed in sufficient time for those who really hate them to prepare themselves mentally and/or take necessary avoiding action?

The clue might be in the thread title?

As with Floss's suggestion for a separate forum for whinges - they would still appear at the top of the What's New? list as soon as a message was posted ...

You might have thought that this weeks endlessly repeated (awful) trailer for the Live " Messiah" might have mentioned the venue or perhaps some of the performers......

In tones more unctuous than mellifluous, the following:

              Luxuriate at lunchtime...with Fauré...

No, you haven't inadvertently tuned into Classic FM. It's good ol' Smoooooooooooooooooooth classical Radio 3.

I stand with you Throppers. Frankly, I tune into R3 in order to hear unpopular music........and that trailer is just bloody awful.....lets just hope the CFM lot don't hear it............

Catching up with previous weekends' recorded CD Reviews, I heard the offensive, borderline nauseating "Luxuriate at lunchtime...with Gabri-elle Fauré..." trailer

These flaming trailers are bad enough repeated times without number between programmes, without invading an oasis of relative quality like CD Review. Really got me steaming. Direct action is called for

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I listen quite a lot to RAI 5. No ads, waffle, trailers or tweets.

I remember the incredulity (mine) when trails were first introduced in the middle of CD Masters. I mean in the actual middle of the programme. And I gather the presenters were consulted as to whether this would be acceptable or not and they saw no problem. Which goes to show the huge gap between being involved with producing Radio 3 programmes for a living - management, presenting, production - and being a listener.

They were presumably also consulted on whether they still wanted a job after the trailers were introduced.

And clearly enunciated details in Italian that I can (mostly) understand!

It has really taken the place of R3 in this househould. (What a sad thing to have to say.)

I hate the current Stravinsky trailer where the ending of Rite of Spring is used to plug a concert, the gap before the final chord being exploited to insert the 'exciting night on Radio 3' hyperbole. Nice going, trivialise the piece on its centenary why don't you, R3?
