I turned on Radio 3 twice recently- there was a trailer on both occasions with little more than a minute. I switched off. It will be pretty well permanent I fear.
Annoying R3 Trailers

I've very nearly given up on R3. My very occasional dipping into Breakfast suggests that there is now a requirement from on high that there is a 'talking up' [M Handley] of something forthcoming in between every pair of music items. This, as well as being tedious, convinces me that some musical items are selected in order to provide the excuse for this (e.g. and more Schubert at twelve on Sunday when Michael Berkely's guest on Private Passions is Professor Bloggs).

I'm sure there's an audience that just doesn't notice these things. Bad luck you want something more than that.It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I've just checked on Sounds - the concert ended at 2150 and the Essay began after a short trailer, ending at 2205. Meanwhile, the red button service on my TV informed me that Night Tracks started at 2200.

Listening to Clive Myrie recommending his new series led me to wonder whether Radio 3 might more truthfully describe itself as 'The Home Of Programmes About Classical Music'. Programmes could also be preceded by the message 'Warning - Contains Small Bits of Classical Music', possibly followed by an assurance that the latter are easily digestible.
