Bloody hell, what's that pompous Winter Olympics trailer doing on Radio 3 ????! .... presumably young Petroc was taking the how's-your-father when he announced 'yes, full coverage of the bobsleigh on Radio 3'.... or is there going to be a weekend of Russian sleigh-ride music?

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Missed that - thank goodness! That Commonwealth Connections trailer is bad enough!

The latest "March the 7th" trail is irritating me already!

            Those oleaginous trailers......

            Which ones, you ask....

Specifically the voice of them for the past 6 months or so.

Is it former comedian turned culture vulture Adam Buxton?

            I'm moved to violence.

I think of them as being more like perfume adverts.

for me any violence is only to the mute switch (+ increasing desire to see BBC cut down to minimum size in future)

Jesus wept, and so shall I if I hear one more bloody trailer for Sound of Dance or whatever the Katie Derham vehicle is called.

(Had occasion to listen to a bit more live R3 than usual over the last couple of days... Already I can't stand it)

It's the Sarah Walker Sunday Morning trailer that gets me needing the Remipril - talking over Butterworth's Shropshire Lad, she declares that the second half of her show is concerned with "creativity and all things creative" - so what the givl is the first half about, then???!!!

                    .... and ... b r e a t h e ... three, four ... and o u t .... three, four ...

As I'm surprised that she wouldn't know better, I can't help wondering whether she might have recorded her voiceover separately and someone put it together with the Butterworth; she doesn't strike me as the kind of person who would condone speaking over music...

If that is indeed the case, I'm sure Ms Walker will be taking action for... infringement of creative independence???

note the start date of the thread - if such advertising worked then why is it not seen in the listening figures - the Einstein definition of madness applies here.

They are awful aren't they? And doubtless we have more to look forward to as the perpetrators get back into their stride after the Proms interruption. A sneaky tactic during the morning is to put them on at times other than the hour and half-hour news headlines - deliberate I imagine to stop us ignorant ADD souls planning to avoid them.....
A few days back I was chatting with an acquaintance on the bus who expressed her dislike of the R3 trailers and said that increasingly she turns the radio off when they come on and then(like me and I suspect many others) doesn't get around to turning it back on again.
Counterproductive or what? But hey what do our views matter, we're only the listeners - until such time as irritation gets the upper hand and we become former listeners.

I'm unsure why playing more music isn't considered as the solution! I doubt the trailers actually needed.
