Reminds me of the old story of a local minister, well known for his inarticulacy, who was nicknamed "Blind Unbelief", as he was "sure to err"...

In the welter of adverts it only very recently crossed my mind that I hadn't heard any about the CCC, then, bang, as if on cue Monday morning the barrage started. I would say that at least there is an end date to the interference but of course it doesn't stop once the closing date is reached because then part 2 starts - trails for the end result and the voting. The latter process is very invasive in terms of the "normal" schedules, and often with a high cringe factor as well - telephone calls with finalists.
I don't know whether the creation of a kiddies section this year is a genuine attempt at creating opportunity or a move to up listening figures from invested relatives.

Can a moderator change the title of this thread? I thought that it was about hiking.

… the thought had struck me too

Alas on this new platform, I can see no way I can do this (it was the work of a few seconds on the old site). I shall ‘refer up’…
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                  Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

                    Trail vs. trailer

IIRC we've been here before - there is a distinction in media speak, but I can't remember what it is.

Trail is TV and radio - typically 30 secs long because that makes it easier for those doing calculations that involve having to hit live programme junctions. The cynic in me thinks that’s one of the main reasons for their existence - to fill airtime . So if you overrun on a live element you can drop the trail ( at the risk of dirty looks in the pub) or if you underrun you can shove a few more in ( brownie points and the distinct possibility of a pint).

Trailer is film - of indeterminate length , very loud with usually with a very low bass note drone , heavily over cut and often with very deep voiced American voicing it.

Thank you, HB, I knew you would come up with the goods. The thread title should remain unchanged then!

Unless they make ‘ Radio 3 - The Movie ‘ - a bittersweet tale of unrequited love set against the passionate background of an acoustically treated radio cubicle.

It really doesn't matter what you call them- we all know what they are. They are a bloody nuisance and one of the key reasons I've stopped listening to anything apart from the occasional concert. And they crow- bar them in there too.

Heard one for children in need on afternoon concert today.
Annoyingly listening to and commenting on radio 3...
