Here's a cover which would appear to have been a reject billboard for a remake of Bride of Dracula.

Purely as graphic design, it's OK - pretty good in fact - but it's suitability here is what's questionable..... if it was one CD of a whole range of different soloists doing different works, say, then it would stand up.

Are you sure that it was rejected?

In any case, it beats any of the ubiquitous soft-focus, smiley 'pass the bucket' stuff that appears on the majority of totally unimaginative covers that carry portraits. These people are performers, not models - something they seem to forget!

I hope very much that occasional boarder and huge Grimaud fan Thropplenoggin doesn't see that........

                            Media covers - again!

We've done these before, but there are some fairly dreadful CD covers, and a collection of these including:

It's difficult to know where to start with this one. The weird underscores in the titles, the creepy guy in the background, the other guy's fixation with jewellery… answers on a postcard.

What better way to depict the rich romance, social conscience and balletic beauty of the music of Aram Khachaturian? An orange Dracula font and Bela Lugosi-esque picture, obviously.

Always worth a re-visit on a Friday afternoon!

Some corkers there I hadn't seen before (plus some old faves)

May I offer this Pathetic specimen:

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                              Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

... I'm just surprised the Russian govt hasn't intervened to supress this early photograph of the young Vladimir Putin as an apprentice KGB interrogator...
