I imagine that you would include a feeling for history since, oh, 1789, say?

Nothing, but that doesn't mean that people habitually do it in public.

Well, the Deborah Orr article makes valid points. This isn't the matter of anyone being appalled by
        "BARE BREASTS"
but of being appalled, in a case like this, at men effectively dragging women into a public place and pulling their clothes off for other men to ogle. To me it seems like an act of violence.

I agree that it would probably have been better to have let the matter pass with as little comment as possible, but it may be a case of the Royals deciding that if this is allowed, what will they do next? (It's hard to see how a 640-acre private estate could be regarded as a 'public place'.) In this case, both the host and the guest had mothers who were pursued by paparazzi - in the latter case, literally, to her death. It probably affects the way they view things.

But, in response to Ian's OP - still QED
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

The fact tha someone marries into the family should not mean that some crass photographer should poke his perverted lens into her life in order to boost the circulation of some adult comic or Irish tabloid. And the fact that you CAN do somthing doesn't mean you should.

Indeed there is a huge difference between walking about topless
            and appearing on page 3

personally I also find the page 3 thing exploitative and offensive

it's a typically English thing to always assume that nudity is always about sex
            which it isn't

I was only commenting on the outrage that some folk seem to have at the female body in a totally non sexualised environment

but I guess we are due for a load of "poor Diana hounded to her death" nonsense because that's the narrative that seems to be being played out.....................zzzzzzzzzzzz

maybe we should ask mr Icke how she manages to hide her lizard tail ? (though I guess if you are a shape shifting reptile it's easy )

can a lens be "perverted" ?

I think that the Duchess of Cambridge's entitled like any of us to privacey, so why not the Royals?

I would agree with you to some extent, but these photos are in French, Italian and Irish rubbishy publications, and it seems unlikely that people (men mostly) will buy the magazines to marvel at the artistic ability of the photographer.

Everyone has the right to privacy in a private place. They were only visible via a long lens.

Well I'm very pleased Viscount Linley (minor royal) has made/inherited enough money to have his chateau estate in France ,with such a lot of acreage that it gives W & K a sporting chance to escape those long long lenses.

With the ever extending easy opportunities to view porn /soft porn, it is obviously not about sex.....it is 100% about moneyand the age old trait of trying to catch people out, in a GotCHA fashion....

it is not merely about tits

                          whose tits is important

they would or would not publish the picture of an 80+ year old woman topless? ... if she was Queen?

                          it is about tits

it is about 'Royalty' and lessez majeste ... etc

                          it is boring

she is not Kate Middleton any more

she is HRH The Duchess of Cambridge

                          it is about money ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££

it is not about infant mortality child poverty famine homelessness

it is about license to exploit but in no meaningful sense about any kind of real freedom unless it be that of HRH

it is quite exciting really but not because of HRH bosoms .... the excitement is in the French antipathy to the Brits and Royals ....and Silvio's pensions
According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

                            Calum,

They would without hesitation if it was Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart
