"a curious zone that is almost certainly the last layer of our Sun’s empire" - a bit like Croydon.

        Voyager really has left us.
It hasn't got much to look forward to. Apparently "Voyager 1 will now travel alone in space, on a course for the star AC +793888 - which it will never reach."

          Sounds like a common nightmare.

Another version of Resurrection Man's video, this time as a slide show which works rather well. Just watch the image, it takes a moment or two to start.

Little blue pixel then.... (and even much less than that)

Indeed. And at the risk of sending this thread off in another direction - one can't help wondering if Our Maker has any other projects on the go in other parts of the universe. After all ours is a fairly recent one

Perhaps by now he's learned to do a better job.

That's really the point, ferret - after 14 billion years, you'd have expected more of this one. Perhaps there are more successful ones elsewhere. I'd love to know what the Reverend Oilwelby, Chaplain of the Coalition Academy (for Eye readers) thinks

I've posted this before. It's a picture from the Hubble telescope.

The bright lights are not stars - they're galaxies (average no. of stars per galaxy - 100 billion). Puts you in your place, rather.

I forget who said this, but somebody pointed out that if God designed us so well, how come he put the entertainment centre next to the waste disposal unit?

The "Pale Blue Dot" photo it took of our planet helps to put the annoyances of daily life into perspective.

Are you absolutely sure you're not just desperately trying to get your mind off the cost of the wife's driving, gurnemanz ... ?

I predict that in one year's time, there will be a news report that Voyager will be leaving the Solar System.
