    Ronnie Wood

Johnny Come Lately to The line-up of The Rolling Stones. Never a favourite band member, combining deviance with a non-specific songwriting talent (unlike the "legendary" Mr K Richard, a happy combination of both traits).

Most notable recently for a high profile bust-up with an Eastern European bint less than half his age, which latter has subsequently found fame (or "empowerment" as it is now quaintly described) as one of the new breed of "celeb" what gets their bits out for subscribers to the Murdock dailys (or is it "dailies"?).

    Or so I am told

What's prompted this, Taps? rumours of a forthcoming tour?

Ronnie's been a Stone for 37 years so not that lately. Actually, he and Keef, himself by no means a virtuoso but one of the best rockers in the business, amount together to a pretty good guitarist - I think Keith said something of the sort in his excellent autobiog. Ronnie's actually not bad - check him out in Shine a Light....

Nothing against old Ron, Richard. And I agree, he's up there with the rest of them.

      Just amusing myself, I suppose...

He was painting when I met him Nice bloke
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

He was also a very good Face and prior to that in the Jeff Beck Group with a young guy called Rod.

Dear God, not Rod (Mrs T is a rabid fan). Call me an old Puritan, but I never got over the leopardskin spandex and lurid tales of mirrored bedroom ceilings Even Mrs T's ma and my own dear mum were not immune to his "charms".

I went to a Rod concert in the mid 80's in the good old Ulster Hall, so up close and personal - no spandex, just him, a tight band, and all the hits - a great night. Strip away all the nonsense, and there was a great bluesy rocker in there.

His technique with the lightweight throwing microphone stand was second to none.

That does sound rather good, Richard
