    Natalie Wood - actress

Natalie Wood, famous for her portrayal of Maria in the 1961 film version of West Side Story, died in mysterious circumstances, which refuse to go away. Natalie had her singing voice dubbed over by Marni Nixon, whose long career including over-dubbings of Deborah Kerr, Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, and a small role in the film version of “The Sound of Music”. The producers kept were said to have kept Marni’s dubbings a secret from Natalie Wood, and did not give the singer any royalties from the film, though Bernstein gave her some of his own royalties.

    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Old Richard Wagner was always surrounded by controversy. Or was it Robert? Umm... confused now...

                What was the question?

                  Very good.

The whole death of Natalie mystery was reopened not long ago.
Marni Nixon is still with us though.

                    Thanks for the link EA.

Nixon, eh? Tricky Dicky couldn't be far out of the picture then... ?

(and thanks for opening this thread. I was quite young when Ms Wood died, and was intrigued and puzzled at the time. I shall follow with interest.)
