Language is just SO important..."Rights to be scaled down"....or "taken away". I am tempted to start a thread on this subject.

Orwell knew how important manipulating language is....

But de la Rochfoucauld did so long before Orwell was born or thought of, when he opined - for the benefit of many that were to come after him, not least politicians the world over - that language was given to Man to conceal his thoughts...

Well, as I said in the thread I started about this a couple of days ago (and which, of course, was subjected to silly comments from a couple of our co-posters) he's free now.

The Guardian piece, not perhaps quite as critical of the Swiss as I have been in the past, is refreshing to read. Apart from the rather naive comment that it's tax evasion, not overspending, that is the cause of our economic problems (it isn't; it's both), it's good to see that the Guardian has taken the story up, along with so many other papers.

.............. another story but not for bedtime ...

"I came to London," he says, "because being here gives you a front-row seat on the imminent collapse of an entire city. I think that the Eurozone is over-rated as a disaster area. They are not yet in as bad shape as Britain. The UK pound," he continues, "is about to collapse. And the collapse of the British economy will be one of the biggest in modern economic history. Of course you will take the American dollar and the euro down with you, for sure. But this place – London – is about to go belly up.
