Looking back at an earlier response, yes - it is possible to get good sound out of LPs, but expensive and hard.

I'd venture to suggest that the experience of buying , owning, and playing vinyl is not much to do with audio quality, but is to do with the way we " consume " and experience the complete package of recorded music, as a reaction to the literally endless, almost cost free experience of streaming which is many people's main way of accessing music. For many young people, it will have been the main or only way they have ever really accessed recorded music prior to starting to dabble with physical media. Vinyl also represents a better way of experiencing artwork, which can be an integral part of the experience.
Achieving really good quality reproduction of an enormous variety of music is cheap and easy. Physical media resemble more closely the experience of browsing and buying good quality books. And for artists they represent vital income streams in terms of signed copies, sales at live events and so on.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
I am not a number, I am a free man.

It’s nice to see this thread resurrected.
I often see people much younger than me rifling through vinyl in the charity shops I frequent and I’ve been moved to ask what the attraction is. The responses I’ve had emphasised the physical nature of handling a real product and the aesthetic value of the sleeves. Sound quality rarely gets mentioned and one university student admitted that the sound quality was better on cd but said that young lady’s are very attracted to members of the opposite sex who have record players! (Not 30 odd years ago they weren’t!)
Hopefully, cd will experience a renaissance and I can retire to the South of France with the proceeds of my colossal collection of discs that were purchased when people were clearing out their unwanted polycarbonate discs.

Not sure if the new idea will be like the Bristol Bitcoin. I never understood it but you could pay your bus fare with the £B.
On Topic: I have a number of vinyl records and occasionally play one as I have very few duplicates on CD.It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
