Alas I dont own either of them, but Kogan's original LP issues are spectacularly valuable - at least a thousand quid per disc in the original issue, and probably several thousand for a good copy - so it doesnt surprise me that his CD reissues also command high prices.
Of course, this has nothing to do with whether or not Kogan was a good violinist, though I am sure he was, but much to do with the availability of his recordings. If you have a copy of any of his four or five original LP issues on the original Columbia blue and silver labels, and they are in good condition, look after them, people will pay BIG money.
I have one, but it isnt for sale.
There is no Mrs Umslopogaas, but I need to discuss this with my nephew, who will inherit the collection. He told me he would like to have it and so he will one day, but I dont think he really knows what he is in for. A ton of vinyl LPs take up a lot of space.
