I never understand - well I do because the police have near immunity - how actions like those don't constitute perverting the course of justice. Instead we get the usual stuff about "misconduct":

"While certain aspects of his complaint were upheld, investigating officers found there was no case to answer in respect of misconduct."

Perverting the course of justice, in Canadian, English, Hong Kong, and Irish law, is a criminal offence in which someone prevents justice from being served on himself or on another party. It is a common law offence carrying a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

Perverting the course of justice can be any of three acts:

Fabricating or disposing of evidence
Intimidating or threatening a witness * or juror
Intimidating or threatening a judge

Also criminal are:

(1) conspiring with another to pervert the course of justice, and
(2) intending to pervert the course of justice.

When a person or group of people are arrested "On suspicion of Terrorism offences" it always seems to be headline news.
Less so when they are released without charge.
I wonder if there are any surveys on this aspect of the subject.

Mark Duggan was murdered in Noth London by a police officer a year ago and still there has been no inquest. His family was ignored by the Met on the day and have not received adequate information about Mark's death. Later that evening a march on the local police station took place and these events rapidly led to the August 2011 riots.

These riots have been chewed over, experts have pronounced, Cameron has vowed etc. But Cameron has not said a word, as far as I am aware, about geeing up the IPCC and Met to get on with the investigation and reply to the family's and society's questions.

Mark Duggan's mother speaks of her fears as Mark's killer is on the loose, in a year when she has seen her son shot dead and her partner of 33 years die of cancer

Mark Duggan may not have been an angel but was he doing anything wrong on this occasion? What did the Met know? How did they know it? And why are they still silent?
