Then, I am totally undone, and surrender to the Scots and their confectionery!

Maybe, mangerton, but that's only because we are already far too busy to engage in multi-tasking ...

What is totally undone? You may not wish to answer that. A minute ago I read with incredulity that you had never heard of Thomas Tunnock and his delicious confections, and hastened to enlighten you, but I see that flossie has beaten me to it. Tunnock's Caramel Wafers. We got them sometimes as a treat, in our childhood, because back then they cost 3d (that's three old pence) each. You could get a lucky bag for 3d, so it was a tough decision.

That's true, of course, scotty, and it's no problem to us being Scots, but very few of us are, and I didn't want to send Anna off with a sore heart.

Here’s tae us, wha’s like us? Damn few, and they’re a’ deid!

Oh mangerton don't get me going, memories of the wee shop near our school in Grangemouth.....

Remember Lee's Macaroon Bars? Gobstoppers, Bazooka chewing gum with the cartoon wrappers, Five Boys Chocolate bars (I looked like the yin that was always greetin') And there were 'tattie scones' which weren't tattie scones, they were some sort hard sweet the size of a scone with a brown spicy powder coating you could lick off, and in the middle was a wee toy. We used to wind up the shop keeper and say to him 'How much are yer Penny Caramels?' And he'd say 'They're a p... och away ye we bizzum!'

It's amazing what you remember from childhood, yet happenings from yesterday get increasingly forgotten.

You mentioned it on the other thread, John - the diving (currently on BBC3 / BBC HD) is hotting up.

Errors by the Chinese, Tom Daley seemingly finding form at the right moment, climbing up to bronze medal position with two rounds of dives to go...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Oh he'd left the easiest dive to last, so the other two got huge scores for the difficult ones?

Did his best did Tom, bronze medal aged just 18, after 10 years training - a medal

Oh, the lead means third, the bronze? Diving is a bit, effete, innit?

Errr... No... He was in the lead after the fifth round, as I said. In the final round, two others got more points, so he got the bronze

I personally don't call hurling yourself off a 10 m high shelf particularly effete, no!
