I can only say in my defence that it was a sincere and genuine imitation, m'Lud, and that there are no previous offences that I wish to have taken into account.

I'm sure scottycelt has his own thoughts on this, but as a still-resident Scot, I would just like to make it clear to you and amsy that stringent rules for ticket sales are being put in place for all visitors from the English region, and especial attention will be paid to those applying from Greater London. Payment for tickets will of course be required in advance, with all applications, and must be made only in Scottish banknotes. A ballot for tickets will be held, and if it appears that demand exceeds supply, applications from residents of Greater London will not be entered into the ballot. No refunds will be given to unsuccessful applicants, whether entered into the ballot or not.

Catering arrangements are still to be finalised, but I understand that the only drinks to be sold will be Irn Bru and Buckie. For food there will be a choice of scotch pies, pizza, haggis pudding, or Mars bars - all deep fried in beef dripping and with compulsory chips.

Language - As it is well known that all Scots speak excellent English without the merest hint of an accent, visitors asking for any translation services will be deported.

Any dispute arising from the above will of course be dealt with under Scots law, except when litigants are from the aforementioned Greater London area, when Jeddart justice will be used.

Oh Lat, I should have added that where we were (Iceland) we could have watched channels in French, German and Russian showing better Olympic coverage than Eurosport1.

Well, it sounds a darned sight more inviting than London 2012. I think you have convinced me.

I'll let you off on this occasion, but next time it's Jeddart justice - see above.

              Excellent day today! Brilliant!

I've been out all day so was forced to suffer the 5 Live radio coverage which went way OTT with superlatives, constant repetitions, inane interviews and talk talk talk. Are there any other teams competing?

Frankly, between you and me, I suspect there is a slight degree of pro-Team GB bias slipping into the BBC coverage.
              Pacta sunt servanda !!!

Oh yes. The discerning beer drinker's drink of choice.

Sorry Mangers, it'll be Tennants. As a special retro touch it will be served by the Lager Lovelies - http://farm1.static.flickr.com/85/23...a565c02797.jpg

And that is different from any other BBC Olympics coverage how, exactly?

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I suspect it's all part of the corporate 'deal', Bbm, but I agree it is utterly ludicrous.

We even had a BBC presenter interviewing too exhausted rowers, both sobbing away that they had 'let everyone down' by winning the silver medal, only for the guy with the microphone to himself 'choke-up' and confess to viewers that he was possibly about to burst into tears as well.

I've just been watching the Women's Marathon, which if nothing else gave us some nice views of the wet streets of London, the only drawback was the relentless droning drivel of commentator Brendan Foster. He is so boring, why does the Beeb go on using him? I wouldn't mind so much if he stuck to the race, but he insists on pontificating about the value that the Olympics bring to young people and their aspirations, conveniently forgetting the wholesale closure of sports facilities and the sale of grounds up and down the country.

I'd also point out that there is no such thing as a killOMeter! The pronunciation is kilometre, but I'm losing on this one, so far only the cycling commentators have used the correct pronunciation.
