Have I blundered into some spy drama?

"French are doing rather well in the pool" sounds like code to me

    Like "Café Mozart ten o'clock"

If Anna mentions "the missing Madonna with the Big Boobies" then I'll know I'm on to something

As opposed to just being "on something"

I'll keep setting 'em up Anna, you keep knocking 'em in!

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I felt sorry that after so much good work for the team Emma Pooley should puncture in the last 6Km and had no chance to contest fourth place. Wednesday's TTs won't generate so much excitement, but there could be more medals.
Hear, hear. The road races have been my highlight of the opening two days.

I can't get excited about the beach volleyball at Horseguards Parade, though - it all appears a bit cheesy.

And the swimmers, men and women, all look like androids.

Well, that was exciting! Mens team artistic gymnastics, first we were on course to get bronze, then we got silver for all of 5 minutes before Japan lodged inquiry as they were not happy with scoring so then we slipped down and indeed got bronze. First mens gymnastics medal for GB since 1912. So, that's all good then!

Edit: Bloke doing the commentary, a Mitch Fenner, sounds exactly like Bill Oddy. Not so much Springwatch but Gymwatch!

That's all very well, but what does it actually mean? (if anything)

                      I don't actually have any pro-Olympic thoughts.
I just thought you'd like some help in getting to 50 messages.

Well, what a miserable old lot of curmudgeons you are! Is no-one excited about the gymnastics win or that Team GB Women, Katherine Grainger and Anna Watkins, propelled us into Friday’s final of the women’s double sculls with a flourish, shattering the Olympic record by almost five seconds?

I suppose I shall have to remain getting over excited all by myself.

In fact the only Olympic sport in which I have any interest is the rowing (as I once briefly rowed in an eight). I did see the double sculls heat, thanks to the clever but confusing BBC catch up video system. I didn't wait for the time, and hadn't realised it was a record.

I'm hoping to catch the eights on Wednesday though I'm not sure whether we'll get a medal.

                            So I'm only a part-time curmudgeon , Anna.

Literally a historic win, breaking a one hundred year old duck can't be bad. Amazing display of strength, balance and control in the gymnastics, if only the commentary had the same characteristics. Grainger and Watkins looked very classy, and a quick glance at Grainger's pedigree says it all. Surely a gold this time? But what about those pocket battleships lifting 100Kg plus? Our own 18 year old Zoe Smith broke the British record in coming a very creditable 12th in the 58Kg class of women's weightlifters.

Anyone watch TeamGB footy last night? I'm not big on football, and the TeamGB men's squad seem an odd assortment but I thought it was quite entertaining. Giggs and Bellamy may not have done any singing, but they were working hard last night in a busy match which had its moments. GB faded in the second half and UAE were well worth the equaliser and looked to be on top before the TeamGB subs turned the game. Sturridge's goal was a classic. That really did bring a smile to my face.
