Sublime! Snappy dialogue, Sally's (as yet?) unrequited feelings for Ian beautifully conveyed by Olivia Colman, and a lovely cameo from Nicholas Jones.

The other way round, surely? I'm assuming the '2012' scripts were written, and the programmes made, well before the current G4S shambles and associated cock-ups - or should that be cocks-up? - came along to provide further entertainment.

It's quite uncanny - the lost coach due to SatNav was broadcast April 2011 but it actually happened this week, last night's episode re the rebranding of womens football coincided with the announcement yesterday about football ..... next week's episode (I won't give the plot away) god forbid that really is a possibility. I do wish they'd repeated the first series before these last 3 programmes for those who missed it first time around. A brilliantly funny programme.

Anna - what we're now seeing are apparently episodes 5 to 7 of Series 2. However, I agree that a repeat of episodes 1 to 4, or indeed of all the previous episodes, would demonstrate the BBC's continuing commitment to the principle of public-service broadcasting.

One hopes that after The Lord Coe's five-ring circus has moved out of town, Ian Fletcher's 'Deliverance Commission' in tandem with 'Perfect Curve' can be redeployed to put some other aspect of public life out of its misery. There are many candidates. Maybe it could be renamed the 'Banking Probity Deliverance Commission'. Like. Yeah. Totally. Shuddup."...the isle is full of noises,

snap - i was only thinking of the same tune mr gong gong!
the BBC's continuing commitment to the principle of public-service broadcasting.
exactly!
well done beeb team.... (credit where it's more than due).
though i do hope the 'culprits' haven't been demoted, or 'let go' in the latest round of personality driven thriftiness, and institutional re-organisation... ironically due to 'debt' and 'recession'.
it's obviously important that a psb should give first rate dramatists plenty of oxygen. personally, i believe that 'people like us' fully warranted accusations such as 'genius' (and i rarely use that expression as it's handed out willy nilly, especially where men are concerned) moreton's latest series deserves a lifetime beeb contract, a knighthood...etc (though he might well decline both). i'd love to hear a repeat of moreton's 90s radio series too, as well as re run of 'people like us' ....since repeats are currently all the rage.
as posted, if you watch the accompanying iplayer film below the episode itself, you will immediately understand precisely why the programme is extra strikingly 'uncanny'. also exactly why our psb has done us all very proud, in making sure this series is broadcast at all, (rather than stuffed in a dark cupboard, and later 'rediscovered' by 'the time team' in 2020). i'm not typing it all out in plain, over excited gibberish for yers, as issues are bound to remain sensitive, particularly right now. why not try googling the dramatist, and series? this far, it's really quite fascinating, almost as fascinating as the finished product, in fact they are almost inseparable.
a huge thank you is due to individuals at the beeb who made this series possible. 5 psb ethics rating, as well as to mr moreton Himself. i'm sure we all wish everyone involved every success in the future. ideally, a box of chocolates is due from the 'friends of r3 forum' imo, though i don't know whether french frank might think it inappropriate, and verging on blackmail!
