    Heave a sigh of relief - independent advisers appointed by the government say England's publicly owned forest estate is a national asset and should not be sold off.

    England's publicly owned forest estate is a national asset and should remain in public ownership, say independent advisers.


    The government says it accepts the recommendations and will halt plans to sell-off state-owned forests. At the time, more than half-a-million people signed an online petition to protest against the policy

    I did! My sis works in one of the great forests so it is the subject of much chat among the Clan Caliban

      Very good news. One multiplied by 500,000 equals making a difference. Should never have been on the agenda though.
