As clearly do the noble Lords Moynihan and Coe behind him

I reserve my minority position of straight-facedness

              Here's some more

Staff working on opening and closing ceremonies allowed to eat chips served outside branches of fast food chain

              some good comments though

This could be the catalyst for revolution in the UK.

              Student fees: Okay then.
Police State: Oh if you insist.
Illegal wars: Well if you have to.

Deny us our chips: Rise up my brothers and sisters and let's overthrow these fascists!!!

The first of the three final episodes of 'Twenty-Twelve' was great this week, Bonneville sublime, esp. the splendid climax. And the subtle absurdities of the voice-over spoken by David Tennant get better and better

She's in Pinter's Betrayal on R4 Saturday afternoon play this week - I'm delighted that this talented and established comedy actor is being 'stretched'

And today we hear that the private company which has won the contract to provide Olympic venue security has revealed that it has failed to recruit sufficient staff to meet requirements and so 3,500 troops, some of whom are just back from Afghanistan, will be deployed to make up the numbers.

The home secretary is to make an urgent statement in the Commons on Olympics security, after it emerged an extra 3,500 troops are needed.

Oh the private sector has so much to teach the public and voluntary sectors - unfortunately not the right things

Obviously the defence review timing (making 20,000 service people redundant) was timed wrong. Otherwise G4S would surely have made their quota....

....either that or the huge queues at UK borders/airports are slowing the entry of the G4S prospective workforce....

Obviously our little puddle jumpers are well equipped to fire Sam missiles and carry tons of bombs and other high explosives. And, of course, all private pilots are highly trained to carry out kamikaze missions.
