It certainly does beggar belief ... but then again when it comes to the 'standards' of many of our modern senior managers and government ministers, then, on reflection, maybe not really?

Is he the First Minister of Scotland or the downright insufferable manager of a recently unsuccessful football club in the EPL ... ? ...

yes do mr gong gong! the arts often seems poorly represented, perceived 'passive', a push over. presumably the lady will have the full support of some of those uni lecturers (discussed in the arts section, in relation to the leveson inquiry)..... surely no org can just suddenly hijack common language ......because of a sporting event? surely it's dangerously insane, a step too far, even by commercial standards. where's the monopolies commission when you need it...they apparently need to defend language itself!

the 'standards' of many of our modern senior managers and government ministers,

agreed scotty celt, no wonder they're grabbing all the loot ....they knew what was ahead. 'aspiration' my foot - 'desperate perspiration' more like! how might any one org genuinely be 'expert' in all those different fields listed in lat's #130? because they are 'jack of all trades, and master of none' per chance? not to mention the unemployment the monopoly must have bought about!

the mantra of 'where do you see yourself in five years time'? always seemed a tad ominus, now it seems logical, but nevertheless absolutely petrifying for everyone... not just those 'frantically guessing at their future prospects' in a world that we are constantly reminded is 'fast changing'.

Why? So what's new? Didn't you already know any of that? Didn't you realise that there's no such thing as "public services" (as a distinct and distinguishable phenomenon) any more and there never really was one beyond a kind of marketing con that sought to present and promote some kind of artifically constructed distance between alleged "private" ones and "public" ones? And, whilst Capita's a biggish player on the market scene, it's by no means alone therein. All public services are up for grabs, being grabbed and having been grabbed by outside (i.e. non-specifically-taxpayer-funded) sources; like it or like it not (and preferabty the latter), just accept it; that's the way that the market works and we're all in the market together, whether Dave says so or not and whether we like it or not!

                  From The Guardian today:

"Coe, speaking on Radio 5 Live said: 'I can't put it more simply than this: G4S expected people to MATERIALISE and when they didn't... we moved very quickly to fill that gap.' "

Goodness ...things must be bad if even the TELEPORTERS aren't working...

Are you by any chance an admirer, as I am, of 'The Wicker Man' (the full - or fuller - cut, of course)?
