Alas, no longer. Used to watch it religiously when one could still see the ball. This supersonic speed is just no fun.

Yes! Fantastic to be able to get home from work and still watch the thick end of that Nadal v Rosol epic live, on BBC HD, to its dramatic conclusion late on in the evening. Great stuff (tho disappointed how sulky Nadal tended to be, even though he must not have really understood what was happening to him. I thought he was more sportsmanlike than that - perhaps that's because he's usually winning and can afford to be )

Anyone for tennis? Definitely! And from what I've heard and read, a much more rewarding watch than the Euro 2012 soccer tournament. Some unbelievable tennis from the young Czech last night.

Not interested in sport, 'cos nothing can be done about it.

            Unlike politics........ theoretically.........

Yes, I've watched on and off. Missed the end [for the moment] of Nadal but saw the repeat later. A cousin is devastated- she has an expensive seat for the semi-final as she was sure he would be in it.

I still can't see our Andy getting through though.

As scottycelt will doubtless remind us, Andy's only "ours" when he wins.

There was a comment on the news about just that - many people shell out for the expensive later stages in order to see this or that legend...

I don't go for these big tournaments. Follow my local tennis team through thick and thin through the winter. Those cold tuesday nights on the tennis terraces make for great bonding experiences.
Not been quite the same since it went all seater, but at least the worst of the violence has gone......
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

I'd often wondered what match points referred to...

Treats tomorrow should include Murray playing Baghdatis, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga's latest outing (where DO the French get all these fine players from?) The only thing I don't enjoy is the grunting/screeching/screaming/yelping of a number of 'ladies'. I can say in all honesty that, if somebody gave me tickets to the Ladies' Final and Sharapova, Azarenko(?) or one of their ilk was playing, I would accept the tickets, only to promptly auction them off to the highest bidder and donate the proceeds to charity.

What scottycelt might doubtless remind us of is that, win or lose, 'Andy' is "ours'' and not "yours" ... in exactly the same way as 'Timmy' was "yours" and not "ours" ..even when he (Timmy) apparently failed to heed the multitudinous southern cry 'For England & St George!', and somehow dared to lose ..

I watch it from time to time, though I don't care remotely who wins most of the time, unless one of the players I have taken a dislike to is playing (there's quite a list of these ) . I positively loathe most sport, but tennis is a strange exception. Perhaps it's because I actually know what's going on, or because the crowds behave well, or because it's not a team game - but really I think it's just habit. Also, it looks quite pretty when they wear white and play on grass. Mostly it's fairly dull, but occasionally there's a real thriller, like the Nadal/Rosol match yesterday, or that match last year that went on for hours and hours.

Andy is partly mine - I'm related to the McRae's
