    RIP Lonesome George, c.1912 - 2012

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/gall...se-in-pictures

I met George in 1995. He was... calm and serene.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

There's a lesson for all of us:

The old ones are the best.

At a fancy dress ball one couple came with the woman on the man's back.

"What have you come as?" asked the hostess.

"I'm a tortoise," said the man.

                      "A tortoise?" she asked.

"Yes. My name is Tom, and this is Michelle."

Speaking of which, I'm sorry I haven't a Clue is returning soon. I was thinking only the other day that it hadn't been on for some time, & blow me down if there wasn't a trailer for it last night

That's almost as bad as the 'turtle obscurity' gag...

Good to know George and his entire species has not become extinct in vain
