Just for today, you understand ...

Cortot plays Seguidillas by Albeniz in 1919 (needs playing at quite a high volume)

Recorded January 11, 1919 during Cortot's first US tour. This was Cortots first recording session for Victor records in Camden New Jersey and as far as I'm...

Dinu Lipatti - Ravel - Alborada del graciosoMore information about Dinu Lipatti (and Clara Haskil, another great piano player) you can find on http://www.li...

Cherkassky plays Polka de WR by Rachmaninov

              Cherkassky plays Tango by Albeniz

I know that this is going from one extreme to another, but The Deadwood Stage sung by Doris Day gets me going (in fact, most things sung by Doris Day)

and back again - The Creation (Haydn, of course)

Perhaps perhaps perhaps......just a great song.

                      Chopin's op 53 Polonaise Heroique

Those two would cheer me up.

Edit .....and Pastoralguy has made me think......the Pastoral sonata would do the trick most times !!

just the first three chords of "till the end of the Day" gives me a lift...anticipation of a wonderful 2 and a half minutes

Salymap, your selection of Hary Janos prompts me to suggest:

Dohnanyi: Sextet for piano, violin, viola, cello, clarinet and horn.

A work, IMHO, that has its moments of real substance -- then comes that "naughty but nice" finale!
