I love the "faith" that the prof and kipper chums have in the lord somehow filling the sea with fish once we leave the EU
Properly managed, the fish are still there, old chap. The difference is that the rather clever con trick that Heath was bounced into in 1971 will no longer apply, and we will not have to continue to open our national fishing waters to the unfairly-subsidised fleets of other "partner" countries.
No, but I've been away again for most of the last week.
Anyway, instead of making tangential comments, how about answering my question? Or was your own earlier comment just another groundless swipe at a government you don't happen to agree with?
Prof this Board and the old BBC one is littered with questions you were going to answer, arguments you were going to make, references you were going to explain & expand on ... but you never do
I'm sure that even in our current parlous economic state we could afford to reimburse them. Their pride was obviously hurt by having their secure military computer system hacked by a bedroom amateur, why not dent it further by paying off what, in national terms, is clearly a piffling sum?
I apologise for using the word 'country' in my original post when I should have said 'government'.
Wise words french frank - pay the blighters off. Hubris is what it is
I amended my comment to refer not to the US but to the administration. And my own reason would be because they attempt to exert too much influence in the affairs of other sovereign countries. If you are 100% approving of their international policies you will, of course, wish them nothing but well and support them in all their endeavours.

There are many things wrong with the CAP
but to think that somehow there are plenty of fish is deluded
If you go to codvik (as it's sometimes affectionately known ) in Grimsby you will realise that our "great" fishing heritage was partly based on having the technology to go and catch all the fish in Icelandic waters something I'm sure they aren't so keen on these days..............
No, I'm not 100 % approving of US policies, nor do I wish them well in all their enterprises, so I don't support them in all their endeavours. But petty actions to hurt their pride would make the UK look pathetic.
I'm glad that you put this in such a way - succinct and to the point as usual. I can sympathize with your view. This interference is the thing that shows them both at their best and at their worst, and it's certainly what annoys so many in so many countries. (A worthwhile general read on this is "Why do people hate America", Sardar and Davies, 2002, Icon Books, Cambridge, UK.)
Bit lefty for you, surely Simon?!
What would that bloke in the pub say, the one who brings in the Daily Mail for you to read
