... well, volume vii of my Memoirs will, of course, be called 'Gathering Samphire'

I am still working on titles for the various volumes of my Collected Letters, Collected Essays, The Diaries and Collected Journals. There will, of course, be additional volumes ('scarce', as the booksellers have it) of Miscellaneous Uncollected Prose and Fugitive Writings....

Why oh why don't they make TV adverts like that any more - notwithstanding the product?

I never, ever buy stuff based on the naff ads of today - meaning all of them. If the ad's naff, so must be the product.

I apply the same logic to any product the advertising for which incommodes me in the way of pop-ups, banners, etc. Boycott.
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Either "If only I'd known that earlier" or "My Ought to Be Ography". My epitaph might be "Shame I didn't have time to play all those CDs"
