To the friends of Chris Newman at FoR3

As you'll have gathered, Karafan/Richard , I went to the funeral and was unsurprised to discover in what affection he was held by so many. We can be grateful that we shared his company, knowledge and enthusiasm for as long as we did. And Becca made a special mention of how much the forum meant to Chris too, which was heart-warming.

Proms time will always be associated in my mind with Chris because of the enthusiasm with which he seemed to hurl himself at the new season, whether he was going to concerts or listening on the radio.

He always seemed to find positive things to say about the performances, although not always about the engineering I think.

So this is very much a Chris Newman time of year for me and I shall certainly be thinking of him as the season progresses
