I couldn't hear much music other than the Fisherman's Friends singing South Australia.

High point - The Wheldale tug which made its way by sea from Yorkshire - can't beat a bit of mining history - and its two unexpectedly excellent interviewees.

      Low point - Boris Johnson.

Indeed, Pugwash creator John Ryan successfully sued both the Sunday Correspondent and The Guardian newspapers in 1991 for printing these and other falsehoods. Yet, 20 years later, the myths persist (amongst the childish mischiefs here).

I met him a couple of times and he was far from the Jolly Sailor of Pugwash fame

Yes, couldn't hear much music but it was there, mostly ignored by the BBC, apparently - we stayed with Sky latterly, the pictures in HD were also far superior to the rain-spotted BBC!

I don't recall ever having witnessed a more patronising, self-indulgent presentation as this one. Matt Baker and Sophie Raworth are better suited to CBeebies, but only as a last resort. it was utterly nauseating. Where does the BBC dig out these people from. I'm even beginning to have a tiny drop of respect for those Proms interval "special guests".(Just kidding.)

I am pleased John you enjoyed it. Sky - I just won't go there.

Oh, for goodness sake. I merely posted Roger as a joke, knowing that apart from the childish mischiefs here everyone would know it was an urban myth!!

I never have before, and probably never will again, but the BBC was SO awful. What with that and the fact that they wouldn't televise the 50th anniversary performance of the Britten War Requiem (which went out live from Coventry Cathedral to 17 other countries) I am rapidly becoming disillusioned with the BBC.

You and me both, Mary. I didn't watch the jamboree this afternoon, but had intended to record the St Paul's service on Tuesday as I'll be at work, and I'd like to hear the music. If the commentators prattle away as they seem to have done today, the BBC might not be a good bet. Does anyone know if it's on Sky, please?

I agree Mary. It wasn't good. Bucket loads of gushing, two trips to a baby unit and Matt seemed uncomfortable without sheep.

I am though completely intransigent on the value of public broadcasting. Nothing will make me u-turn and certainly not someone called Rupert who has forgotten he has amnesia.

The Sky coverage was definitely far superior to the Beeb's ... simple as that ... like or loathe Old Rupey & Sonny Jim.

Indeed. And Beeb news channel not being HD, well, their coverage was visually soaked as well as absent of music, or much of it.
