Too late, I discovered I could get Sky on Freeview 82, and the coverage there was said to be much better than the BBC. For the first time I actually heard some music. The BBC coverage has been bad.

As I said, the music was often captured by Sky News. Don't know where the Beeb were. The last bit I heard was Greensleeves, presumably RVW, the Academy again.
      Just heard The Dam Busters.
And Alastair Bruce on Sky saying "Now let's enjoy the music" and shutting up.

          I enjoyed it.

Efficient, steady pace, bright, egalitarian, erudite in respect of history, no glitz. Perhaps the Government might try something similar.

A pity about the weather but it enabled the occasion to be evocative. Should be some good photos tomorrow.

Sadly, she didn't look too well too me. Surely she has done more than enough to deserve being excused from the concert of torture tomorrow.

I switched between BBC and Sky (and, no, I do not subscribe, I have Freesat) I saw no tall ships nor heard any music. It seems to be tipping down there, as it is here, such a shame, but I cannot agree with Lat, HM looked pretty healthy to me for an 86 year old, although I would excuse her from attending the Concert!

The choir all deserve medals for keeping on singing in the rain, even though they do sound pretty awful.

There's nothing more British than being soaking wet, on a picnic, eating a soggy egg and cress sandwich and making the most of it!

Anna, music was there but like only snippets, but it was there.

Just listening now to the London Philharmonic and a brave rain-soaked little choir with Land Of Hope And Glory.

and now, proms-style sea shanties, yes the choir are bobbing up and down :)

and it's the end, the National Anthem!

                          Saucer of milk ?

I was just looking at the BBC website to see if there was any real news and found this quote ........

" And here they are - the rainsoaked member's of London Philharmonic Orchestra singing Land of Hope and Glory."

I guess they had all their instruments confiscated by the security services then ?
or is refusing to play some form of protest ? careful now , we never know where that might lead

Actually there never was a Roger the cabin boy
                              or Seaman Staines
                              or Master Bates

                              sadly
