You are a mine of information there vints, as one has grown to expect on matters epicurean.

Good to see the Nyetimber, a bold choice but perhaps the discount at Waitrose tilted the scales in its favour

M de Vinteuil - you were there? I bow the knee and tug the forelock.

      Did you enjoy it?

[Btw, the Coop were really decent last week when I inadvertently picked up a wrongly priced/labelled £17 Chablis and didn't notice until I'd opened it and drunk half of it . I just thought my mental arithemtic was wrong and didn't look at the bill ...

They 'refunded' me a bottle of Coop Chablis so I was able to compare the two. The £17 Chablis was better ]
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I too have nothing but praise and respect for Lat's principles. Sometimes it takes courage to express views such as those recently communicated, and I would like to think that others would accept this, even when they disagree.

            Were you there, vindewestsussex?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

... me? - no, I was picnicking with Mme V after a hearty tramp through the Chilterns; a cheese'n'tomato sangwidge which was well good

A friend of mine In the welsh guards band was at the concert and he was supporting robbie Williams. He said it was fantastic!

I didn't know Robbie Williams wore a truss

Maybe recommended by 'The apprentice' as a good example of English Wine Sparkling.

                            No shred of truth possible?

I don't know what 'two left-leaning ' papers to which you are referring as I only mentioned one very right-leaning newspaper ..

And you keep mentioning Auchtermuchty ... I don't know the place, I've never been there ... I take it that you know it really well?

Of course, there can be a shred/grain of truth in any press account ... but some of us might just be interested in discovering the many other grains as well?

I can see that being part of the big band stuff would be quite an interesting place to be on the evening, presumably he backed Joneses Tom and Grace also!

I was brought up on the Sunday Express in the 1950s/60s scotty and thus fell under the rancid spell of Sir John Donald Brown Junor who was Editor -in-Chief of said journal. He used to mention Auchtermuchty de temps en temps as in "What would they say in Auchtermuchty?"

As to there only being one truth, I think there are plenty of philosophers who might want a word in your shell-like, scotty

"The bee in your bonnet" is of course your persistent down on The Left, as if it were easily identifiable these days

Edit: You are quite right, scotty - I misread Daily Mirror for Daily Mail - so I am quite pointless there - as you had already spotted

                                My apologies
