Despite being a somewhat lukewarm monarchist I will put it on record that as a member (chairman indeed) of our Choral Soc, I was out there on the High Street of Royal Wootton Bassett this afternoon doing the decent thing and leading the throng in a spirited rendering of "I Vow to thee My Country"

Made the mistake of switching to BBC1 just now... Is Elton John these days anything but a bizarre joke? Jaw-dropppingly awful!"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Sir Cliff expressed the view earlier that he thought the Queen would rather be at the opera ...
So it seems even he thought the show would be pretty bad ...It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Princess Anne and the Archbishop were certainly rocking along to Stevie Wonder. I thought the graphics projected on the front of the Palace while Madness played Our House were very clever.

Cracking music and fireworks at the end though!!
But bloody Huw Edwards talking over the music at the end inc. the Beethoven. The BBC is decidedly staffed by philistines"...the isle is full of noises,
