To be fair, though, it probably was the largest anti-monarchy protest in the UK in generations ...

I invariably watch these occasions on Sky. (They did a wonderful Princess Di funeral.) I've just has a quick look; Eamonn Holmes seems to be coping well (with a slight hint of cynicism, which is pleasing) and with very expert assistance from their usual royal/constitutional expert, Alastair Bruce - plummy, but informative.

I burst out laughing when I saw the royal men; nice to know the royal dressing-up box is being put to use again. Harry and Wills in uniform OK - but old codgers like the D of E????

I'd be a bit careful there scotty
as you seem to be suggesting that because something isn't universally popular it has no merit

Bax, The Pope, Choral Evensong, Brahms, Schubert, Cage, Wagner and so on ............................................

I've figured out that each section of the flotilla (rowing, steam, Dunkirk veteran vessels, pleasure etc) has music performing on the lead vessel, so Sky have managed to capture much of that with their microphones. Lots of Handel, Elgar, Walton :)

I must have missed something, dashing between kitchen and puter, where were the Tall Ships? I believe my grandpa was the original Roger the Cabin Boy. Actually, all in all, a bit of a damp squib and not terribly thrilling. I also heard no music.

Tall ships can't get under Battersea bridge, Anna.

As I said, the music was often captured by Sky News. Don't know where the Beeb were. The last bit I heard was Greensleeves, presumably RVW, the Academy again.
