How do you work that out? The Monarchy have no power, cannot pass laws, have no influence whatsoever. It's the politicians who are responsible for how things are (and the electorate who voted for them of course) I'd rather see the Houses of Parliament blown up than The Queen!
well I assume you are the lucky ones !enjoy your lunch .
Quick history lesson. In contrast to the Church of England, the Church in Wales is no longer an established church. Disestablishment was effected in 1920, under the Welsh Church Act 1914.
As a member of the Anglican Communion it recognizes the primacy of the Archbishop of Canterbury who does not, however, have any formal authority in the Church in Wales. So, we can cock a snook at Rowan Williams! Drippy Druid. And, I nearly burnt the rice posting that!
The only sad figures I can see around here are the miserable killjoys who are so full of envy and bile that they would begrudge the nation a few days of celebration in the midst of gloom and recession, and refuse to admit that the Queen, and the Monarchy as a whole, are a tremendous asset to the nation.
That's what's sad.
I've been provoked too far ... naff off Pee you irredeemable old scrote! :

I had great-uncles wot woz involved in all that - a Dean of Llandaff, no less, and a canon somewhere else - which meant that when I was a nipper and fellow school kids were chortling at "antidisestablishmentarianism" as the longest English word - it was a word that actually meant something to me

Thanks for that. I am assuming no bunting was required for churches in Wales...just as well, because the C of E must have used it all up,!
You must be using quick cook rice.
Incidentally, Brenda recently visited Salisbury. She pretty much spent all the time visiting the military Museum, and the Cathedral....two of her big sources of support.
Strangely, didn't call in at The Heath, or the Friary...you can guess what they are !!
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I expect your children would be 'messed up' if you had greeted them with a distant hand-shake when they were tiny.
in a recent comedy sketch i heard, the queen greeted her relatives with a 'have you come far'? like she doesn't know where anyone else lives..... even in her own family!

why exactly does no one phone social services?
Given the amount of hassle musicians visiting schools get these days I do wonder if she has a CRB ?
Blimey, I don't think Salisbury is half as exciting as you lot seem to think !!
Or perhaps it is, and I am missing out on the fun...either way keep guessing..though some of the above may be located there, for all I know !!
