Odd, though - NW's so often derided as a kind of royalist toadie and lickspittler, yet he's far from, unknown for gaffes against certain of the royals, as Prince Charles's notorious "these bloody people - I can't bear that man - I mean, he's so awful, he really is" from a few years back testifies rather pointedly.

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I was walking around Chichester a few hours ago in the late afternoon sunshine. Every street was bedecked with bunting, Union Flags hung from nearly all the buildings, everywhere I looked there were adults and children of all ages good-naturedly enjoying the atmosphere. And from the Jubilee Fair in nearby Priory Park, which many of these people had been to, came the sound of a Brass Band playing Jerusalem.
I defy anybody to take in such a scene and not feel at least a little bit better about life- even you, Mr Gong Gong.
And surely that's what it's all about.
Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.

Pathetic
What made me happy today
was a pair of Arbroath Smokies, a couple of glasses of good red
and rediscovering Stump
If "that what it's all about" what on earth is IT ?
I can assure you that when I was in intensive care earlier this year I certainly wasn't thinking that "hope I get out of here in time for the jubbly as thats what IT's all about"

Once again you have missed the point entirely. What it's all about is -as I said - people of all ages having a lovely time, enjoying a wonderful atmosphere, united in that happy state by the Jubilee celebrations. And that if you are unable to appreciate that, then you have my sympathy, for your existence must be truly joyless.
