Couple of casualties near the end of that post, Beefy!

I've heard today (for the first time in ages) Britten's version of the National Anthem and it's brill

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Why on earth would that hideous video be on TV over the weekend??

And I'm glad you've got the buckets ready. Too many Smokies can have that effect.....

                  That's true

Whatever else one thinks, who can possibly find Twitchell anything but nausea-inducing (including the P.o.W. himself) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMSzIG4a5cw

Someone needs to b*ll*ck the BBC weather dept. as well - on the main national forecast on BBC1, drawing parallels between this damp weekend and HMQ's Coronation Day "in 1952" ... They really haven't got the point, have they?

Pretty basic, one might have thought

Derek Jarman's films encapsulate much of what our culture has become, and despite the intentional cheesyness which some find "tricky" have much to say to us today......
