Yes, it's footy for me as well ... can watch all the big English, Scottish, Spanish, German, Italian etc etc etc games on SKY ... so all is forgiven Rupert! ... TV is no use for music as far as I'm concerned, that has to be R3 or the Berlin Phil Digital Concert facility ... I also watch relatively relaxed current affairs programmes like the Andrew Marr Show and, for consistently good comedy, it just has to be Fox and Bloomberg Noos from America!.

If you want to know more about the ongoing criminality and financial terrorism perpetrated by Wall Street and the City of London watch RT's Capital Account and the Keiser Report.
Russian state-funded RT has been dubbed "Kremlin TV" by some Western media as it's obviously not critical of Putin, but you at least don't get the US/Eurozone pro-banking cartel agenda put out by Western mainstream media.
I also watch Newsnight, at least the opening headlines, to see what's on it potentially worth watching.
Other than that, BBC Four documentaries, and very little else!

Not long after receiving the free gift we decided to get rid of it & have lived without a TV for at least 5 years. Every so often we have access to one (holiday cottages etc) & realise what we haven't been missing.
However, with the rapid changes in TV technology hiring would seem to make sense - one could upgrade to a new set & it would be cheaper than buying (I think, but I've no idea what they cost).
Younger members might be surprised to learn that 'white goods' could also be hired.

It's odd how people feel that watchingTV programmes is somehow obligatory, as if the authorities will get you if you decide not to watch the latest scandinavian drama.
Of course, I may be thought partial because the BBC pays my pension, but there really is quite a lot of good stuff to watch, for all that.
If I want to read a book, I can go to my shelves, visit a bookshop, or go to a library to pick something that I might enjoy. We should treat television in the same way.

Apart from the occasional BBC4 documentary, the BPO Digital Concert Hall and my own DVD's my only regular fixture with TV is Channel 4 Racing every Saturday afternoon. I used to find Saturday afternoons so dull until I got interested in horse racing; now it's my favourite time of the week. The Proms will see my TV viewing rocket, of course.
