So did anyone see its rival on ITV this evening, Upstairs Drownstairs.... a.k.a. Drownton Abbey?

A Titanic failure, I thought. It seemed to me to be a complete waste of time and money - a fatally misconceived project. Except it's been pre-sold to upwards of 80 countries so it will make a handsome profit for ITV.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I was watching the documentary 'Angelic Voices' on BBC4 and have posted my views on the appropriate board. Suffice it to say that I recommend it unreservedly.

I thought the last episode was priceless, with the wicked lady taking a graceful tumble over the balcony! We loved anticipating those obvious moments, " ---been received, and therefore we are now at war with Germany", while extremely light looking sandbags were being dumped on the front steps, and was that the siren I heard? But natch!

I thought it was just the ladies who watched offerings like UD and DA, but maybe that feeling was simply a relic from a bygone age ... ?
