Which illustrates that in some cases the e is necessary, in others - I presume - optional.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Didn't we once have this discussion about C having to have E after it to make it a soft C?

        . So why number it?

Later it said that 'children under 12 months need not answer the following questions. ' I kid you not.
Saves having to renumber(and possibly reformat the text, with the potential for things to go awry) everything after that point just because someone has thought better of/does not want to include whatever question was in that place originally?

If you do, then so do I! Proof reader and writer not in the same camp?

According to Ms Alker, today is the anniversary of the date on which a particular Handel Concerto Grosso 'first premiered'.

... well, it will have had subsequent premieres in Paris, St Petersburg, Buenos Aires &c - so this was its 'first premiere'...

[ note to self - why the f... am I defending Ms Alker?? ]

You're ever the gentleman, kindly untying her tautological tangle.

In one sense, every performance could be considered a premiere (city/town, hall, orchestra, conductor, day of the week, month, year, audience, all or some taken together). If you have that sort of mind.

Well (or so, in modern parlance) everything is "unique" these days.
