    I think that's a bit pedantic.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

What? Pedantry in the Pedants' Paradise thread? Whatever next? Politics in the - oh, sorry, I was forgetting that it's lately been made to forfeit its deposit...

I assumed ff was damning with faint praise.

Damn! So indeed she might have been. A praiseworthy thing to do when the context fits, perhaps...

                    ...as Tony Payne has demonstrated.

I'm not sure who's proved that, though I've no doubt that it's true...

I'm going to do very well for free booze down our local this month

                        Notice on our village news-sheet:

WHAT'S ON AT THE ------ ARMS IN JANUARY

TRIM & PINT NIGHT TUESDAY 27TH WITH SHARON ------ £1 DRINKS VOUCHER WITH EVERY HAIR CUT

Well, I'm a bit thin on top these days but that should still set me up nicely for most of 2015

EDIT Having asked Wiki the obvious question, I reckon I'll just about be able to stand all forumites a drink too. Apparently a full head of hair has about 100,000 follicles See you all on the 27th then.

If necessary I'll have an eyebrow trim as well...

One oddity: this offer has run in our rag for several months, but previously without the space..

I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

Just thinking about next week's Composer of the Week.

Quite the cosmopolitan, he's Orlandus Lassus in Latin, Orlando di Lasso if he's being Italian, but in French he's sometimes Orlande de Lassus and sometimes Roland.

Why? Just a harmless bit of metathesis?

                                Probably avoiding creditors?
