    "tuck" as in "trypo" ?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I have a brand new Ian Rankin sitting waiting to be read. I had hoped to read it over Christmas, but it didn't happen.

[Pedant mode] The fact that I have not yet read it means that this is not a proper answer to Ff's question. However, judging on past form, it seems a fairly safe bet. [/Pedant Mode]

Dropping a biscuit in a perfectly good cup of tea or coffee when attempting to dunk it ruins the biscuit, the drink and probably soaks the one responsible. I've just done it

also, I usually self inflict a minor scald, trying to rescue the situation.
And you really don't want it to be the last biccie in the house.
glad to hear there are some honest dunkers around still !!

                Oh hard luck, salymap

Strange how this commonplace event never seems to appear on Egyptian heiroglyphs, innit

I suspect it does , but the academics like to keep it all serious !!
I mean, why is all school latin exclusively about wars? Did they never have issues with buses being late, or there being no bread left at the bakers?

This may be because the Pharoahs placed their sun baked biscuits on a spoon before gently lowering them into the surface of the beverage, making sure that one surface stayed dry for lifting purposes. They became very skilled at doing this while sitting on an uncomfortable throne facing sideways as frequently illustrated.

A few pharaonic spoons were found in Tutankhamen's tomb, but were nicked by one of Cater's associates as he was studying a friend's wedding list at the time.

Thank you teamsaint - I have been called a few names in my time but I am proud to be known as an honest dunker. In private only, unless others dunk first.

Which bird dunks bits of bread in the birdbath ? Is it the magpie ? Then other birds have a bath between the soggy mess.
