Incidentally, having had reservations about the first of Mary Beard's Roman documentaries (around #84), I have to say that the second was considerably better: back to the excellent standard she'd set for herself in previous programmes she's made for BBC4; lightly humorous without the self-concious "daft professor" persona of the first, and full of insight and information.
