I agree with Richard Tarleton:- this is getting really boring. I simply commented that I had "Sky plussed" Young Musician, and lo and behold, Mr GG took that as an opportunity to indulge in yet another irrelevant jibe. It really is becoming extremely tedious.
Getting back to the subject of the thread, if I may, I had a go at watching YM earlier, but gave up very quickly I'm afraid. The whole presentational style really got on my wick.
I will try again, particularly with the woodwind and brass semi-finals, but I don't know whether I'll be able to stick with it for a whole 90 minutes. I lasted about 10 this afternoon.....
It is a shame to see such a previously well produced and seriously intentioned programme being spoiled in this way.Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.

[QUOTE=vinteuil;150819 It's only then that I find the discipline to get down to some serious reading or music. [/QUOTE]
Indeed I do those too - and I practise the guitar in the evenings (sometimes while Mrs T is trying to watch the tv...). But there's a lot more choice on Sky. People object to it for wholly irrelevant reasons. Today I could have (had I noticed it was on) recorded a performance of Iphigenie en Tauride in HD....

Resurrection Man
Well spotted. It just makes the whole thing so dismally depressing. 'Thing' being classical music. I'm sure that it went on in 'the Good Old Days' (whenever they were) but it didn't seem so rampant then.
But then I'm feeling a bit maudlin as the only greengrocer in the town has just closed after 20 years of trading. Malvern District Council....you are killing the town. Sorry..bit off-topic.

I'm impressed. Last year the Daily Mail named her as number 8 in Britain's top 50 most powerful posh people under 30. ("Bewilderingly multi-talented, the St Paul’s Girls’ School old girl is also an actress, violinist, presenter on The Culture Show and journalist. There’s nothing she can’t do." )
Yes, she's published a novel too. Her mother, agent Gillian Hill ...
