I'm impressed. Last year the Daily Mail named her as number 8 in Britain's top 50 most powerful posh people under 30. ("Bewilderingly multi-talented, the St Paul’s Girls’ School old girl is also an actress, violinist, presenter on The Culture Show and journalist. There’s nothing she can’t do." )
Yes, she's published a novel too. Her mother, agent Gillian Hill ...It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Having just caught up with Young Musician 2012 on the iPlayer I must admit there is just about enough uninterrupted piano playing to form an opinion. The standard was very high indeed. I particularly liked the Morel Etude and the Dutilleux piece. My life, each morning when I dress, is four and twenty hours less. (J Richardson)

What made it sad for me was the mis-match between the crass trashy populism of the presentation - not just Clemency 'Burton' Hill, but the whole BBC schmaltzerei ladled around it - on the one hand : and on the other hand, the commitment and serious musicianship of the pianists, which shook me out of my middle-aged lethargy to realise how really wonderful they were. More of them - less of the presentariat, that's what I want...

Why do you feel the need to derail a perfectly reasonable thread with yet another childish jibe?
Give it a rest, please.Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.

This really is getting boring.
Not for the first time, and almost certainly not for the last - were it not for the existence of Sky, some of us would not get a digital TV or radio signal at all. It's nothing to do with what you think of News Corp, or the Murdochs, or phone hacking - it's to do with getting a picture on your TV screen, or digital radio signal, or not. It's satellite or nothing. There is no longer an analogue signal (which was crap anyway), and it's impossible to get Freeview or cable. Sky is it. So to everyone who has a choice, fine (except that without Sky, you won't get Sky Arts or Sky Arts 2). If you live in a rural area like this, there is no alternative. It's a technical solution to a technical problem - with added benefits.
