We'll make Rob's the main one then. I'll try and find the Frankel thread... Let me know if there are any others you want me to merge!

What about the racing posts (geddit?! ) from here?

UPDATE: You should find those two merged now - let me know if it suits

That's right, Rye House was taken out because of the way the ground was riding (too firm).

That sort of thing can be annoying. You fancied Sir Michael and Ryan to win and they did but not on your original selection.

I can see Rye House being saved for Goodwood now.

          Cheers caliban.

How sad to note the death of Thomas Chippendale yesterday whom we discussed at some length last summer.

At least the ability Sir Henry saw in him was to be amply demonstrated in his last race.

Seems to be a horse on the upgrade but would need to assess opposition and price nearer the time. Not many miles on the clock which will help as the season progresses.

It's a roller coaster of a sport is horse racing and never better demonstrated than yersterday afternoon. Best wishes to Lady Jane Cecil in continuing at Warren Place.

I like this home for the Forum's horse racing enthusiasts. Will endeavour to embarrass myself by putting up my choices each Saturday morning.

I usually only bet on Saturday as work forces me to make it the only time I can sit down and study it properly. During the week I'm also nowhere near a betting shop and am very wary of using my mobile phone in case I get addicted. I'll always go on Alison's special tips though, no matter what day of the week!

I prefer to bet on the football during the season.
Sometimes I can go for weeks without a punt on the horses but I like a bet during the big racing festivals (is Glorious Goodwood next?) or if I pick up a tip.
No big stakes though, never more than a tenner on the horses and two or three quid a week on the footy.

Most betting terms are frankly a mystery to me and could do with an idiot's guide! I just do singles and doubles with the occasional each way punt in big fields.
A friend said I should do a Lucky 63 but while I can see the principle, I can't quite make out what likely winnings are going to be. Betting needs to lose some of this mystery and make it easier for dumbos like me to grasp.

I won't touch football with a 10 foot disinfected barge pole.

those complicated bets are a bookies dream.

usually mean that you pick a winner but don't pick up any cash.

best bet IMO for a bit of fun, rather than for the serious punter, is 3 horses, 3 singles, 3 doubles ,and a 3 timer.

Learned what I know about racing working at laddies in the hols.
as the clock ticks round to 11 am on saturday, it still makes me think of Hackney dogs !!
